1. To create a new document go to FILE – NEW.
2. Change the Size of the image in pixels, Resolution, and Color Mode (RGB or CMYK).
3. Open or import your images into separate layers in Clip Studio Paint with CTRL-O
4. Use the tools on the toolbar to draw with (stock, patterns, and pens)
5. Use the eraser tool to delete part of layers (CTRL-E)
6. To undo a mistake use CTRL-Z or go back to a previous state with a history panel on the left side.
7. If anything happens out of your expectation during a drawing session you can revert to a previous state with CTRL-ALT-Z
8. When the drawing is finished you can select all layers and merge them (CTRL+E)
9. And save your image!
10. This file is now ready for you to export to another format or be printed out as it is. You can also export it to Clip Studio Paint’s format (.CLIPS) and open it on a computer.
NOTE: To get the best results when drawing with Clip Studio Paint use the pen tool (P). Zoom in and out for detailed work or zoom out to work faster. Change color and brush size by scrolling up or down on your tablet’s touchpad.
How to draw comics in Clip Studio Paint:
1. Draw your panels with the tools on the toolbar and pan around with CTRL+Shift+Left Mouse Click – Drag. The line mode is perfect for drawing lines and adding text later when needed. 2. If you want to add details to a character or environment, add stock images from the library, adjust it to fit your needs with the free transform tool. 3. When you have finished drawing your panels and added necessary information, merge them (ctrl+e) and save as.CLIPS file 4. Export as jpeg or .png, import into a computer editing software such as Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint(also known as Manga Studio) and continue working.
TIP: Set the size of your artboard to 12×18 or more inches if you are planning on printing it later. This way all your lines will be accurate pixel by pixel.
